On April 27, 1961, at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles, Ty Cobb threw out the first ball at the opening home game of the brand new expansion Angels. It was there only year to play at Wrigley Field as the team moved to Chavez Ravine. Such names as Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan ( he left in 1980 to go back to his home state of Texas and finished with the Rangers, lefthanded hitter Rod Carew and Jimmie Reese also played with the Angels in their careers.
