First Arlington Pitch by Edward Kasper
The long wait is over! It’s Monday, April 11, 1994, and Texas left-hander Kenny Rogers has just delivered the first official pitch at the brand new Ballpark in Arlington. Brewers’ leadoff hitter Pat Listach has tapped the offering to the right side, where it will be fielded by second baseman Doug Strange for a 4-3 putout. Catcher Ivan Rodriguez, first baseman Will Clark, shortstop Manny Lee, third baseman Dean Palmer, left fielder Juan Gonzalez, center fielder David Hulse and right fielder Rob Ducey are the other Rangers in the field. Greg Kosc is the home plate umpire, Al Clark is at first, Dan Morrison is at second and Larry Barnett is at third. This is the same crew that opened Cleveland’s Jacobs Field a week earlier.
