Big Red Machine by Bill Purdom

The 1976 World Series is under way as the first pitch from the Cincinnati Red's Don Gullett to Mickey Rivers of the Yankees is heading towards the plate at now defunct Riverfront Stadium. Pete Rose creeps in along the 3rd base line to prevent the speedy Rivers from bunting. The "Big Red Machine" goes on to win its 2nd consecutive World Series, winning all 7 games they played in the '76 postseason, sweeping both the Philadelphia Phillies, for the N.L. Crown and these New York Yankees for the World Championship. Reds starters are Gullett (p), Johnny Bench (c), Tony Perez (1b) Joe Morgan (2b), the N.L. MVP winner, Dave Concepcion (ss), Rose (3b), George Foster (lf), Cesar Geronimo (cf) and Ken Griffey (rf).
